AniTracker — Terms of Service & Privacy Policy Last updated: August 23, 2026 This document covers both the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for AniTracker (the "Bot"), a Discord bot that posts AniList activity updates into a server channel. By adding the bot to a server or interacting with it (running commands, clicking buttons, reacting to its messages), you agree to the terms below. 1. What the Bot Does: AniTracker connects to a server's chosen text channel and posts updates when a tracked AniList profile watches/reads something, updates their status, or posts on AniList. Server members can also: Save anime/manga to a personal watch-later list. Recommend anime/manga to others (one vote per person). Look up an AniList user's favorites. React to activity posts, which privately notify the relevant people The Bot is an independent, unofficial project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by AniList or Discord Inc. 2. Data We Collect and Store To function, the bot stores the following in a private data file on its hosting server: Discord IDs: server (guild) ID, channel ID, and the Discord user ID of whoever ran /track for a given AniList profile and of anyone who uses Watch Later, Recommend, or /favorites. AniList usernames/IDs: the public AniList username and numeric ID of tracked profiles, and the numeric ID of anime/manga saved or recommended. Feature data: each person's watch-later list, recommendation votes (which anime, by whom), and a short-lived record of recent activity post message IDs (used only to route reaction/recommend notifications to the right person; old entries are automatically deleted once the list grows past a fixed size). Discord role names: the bot checks whether a role named "Anime" exists in a server, if that server uses the optional relaunch/notification features. We do not collect passwords, payment information, message content from your server's other channels, direct message content (aside from what the bot itself sends you), or any data from servers the bot has not been added to. All data is pulled either from Discord's API (public server/user metadata the bot has permission to see) or AniList's public GraphQL API (public profile and media data—no AniList login or API key is used or required). 3. How Data Is Used Stored data is used only to operate the bot's features described in Section 1: posting activity updates, running commands, remembering watch-later lists and recommendation votes, and routing private reaction/recommendation notifications to the correct person. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. 4. Data Retention & Deletion Tracked profiles, watch-later lists, and recommendation data persist until removed via the bot's commands (e.g., /untrack, clicking a button again to undo a Watch Later/Recommend) or until the bot is removed from a server. The short-lived "recent posts" record used for reaction/recommendation routing is automatically pruned and does not grow indefinitely. If you'd like your data deleted manually (for example, after leaving a server), contact the server's administrator, who can run the removal commands, or contact the bot's operator directly. Removing the bot from a server does not automatically erase that server's stored data from the hosting file; deletion on request is handled manually by the bot's operator. 5. Third-Party Services The bot relies on: Discord (discord.com)—for all bot functionality. Your use of Discord itself is governed by Discord's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. AniList (anilist.co)—for anime/manga/user data via their public API. AniList's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy govern the underlying data the bot displays. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or uptime of either third-party service. If AniList's API is down or rate-limited, some bot features may temporarily fail or be delayed. 6. Acceptable Use You agree not to use the Bot to harass, spam, or abuse other users (including spamming the /track, Watch Later, or Recommend features). Attempt to exploit, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the bot in a way that harms its availability for others. Use the Bot in any way that violates Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, or AniList's Terms of Service. We reserve the right to remove the bot from any server or block specific users from interacting with it at our discretion if these terms are violated. 7. No Warranty The bot is provided "as is," free of charge, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Anime/manga data (titles, descriptions, ratings, genres, images) is sourced from AniList and may be incomplete, delayed, or occasionally inaccurate. We are not liable for any damages, direct or indirect, arising from use of or inability to use the bot. 8. Changes to This Policy This document may be updated as the bot's features change. Continued use of the bot after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. 9. Contact: For data deletion requests, questions, or concerns about this policy, contact the bot's operator directly (the person who set up and hosts this instance of AniTracker in your server).
